Brittany Spears is amazing artist…

I know from all I have seen in the celebrity world that Brittany has worked since she was 3 years old. At 15 we all remember the schoolgirl get-up on her first release. As I am sitting writing this and I can’t tell you the name of that song, but I will always remember that video.

She is amazing in that, through it all, she is still working. I respect that so much because she is working her demons out in public – but that does not mean that magazines and some parts of the public have the right to be mean, or that they get to take away the work that she did.

Being a New Yorker, I chose to create a business, which celebrated a brillliant two years this July 4th. I am grateful to one of my fabulous clients who gave me a Brittany Spears CD that I asked for because I didn't understand the attention that Brittany was getting and wanted to learn more about her and her music.

I listened then started to dance and understood that she sang many songs whose meaning she had not probably not yet experienced, but that now we are seeing her living them out.

I think she is brilliant. WOW.

My point is to ask why people are interested about adding to the drama of Brittany’s breakdowns and break-ups? Why be mean to a person who is in a place of change?

I thank you, Brittany, for what you have given us. They make them well in this country.

Love, ZAK

I really like this quote:

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear."

What Is News And What Isn't?

One of the reasons that I started this blog is for the simple reason that there are more important things to talk about in the world today than what we are seeing the the news. Whether or not Britney Spears is wearing underwear isn't news, and shouldn't make front page headlines. Am I the only one who thinks we have gone too far in our obsession with celebrities? Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Help Keep A Child Alive

Black Ball at Lincoln Center Raises Over One Million Dollars

Keep A Child Alive
is, in my opinion, the most amazing charity there as ever been. It was founded by a wonderful and caring women, Leigh Blake. I have been blessed in knowing Leigh, an Englishwomen who has been instrumental in developing the HIV and Aids movement in the world. I was invited to the recent Black Ball in New York City, which honers the people who are helping Keep A Child Alive do the work they need to do, which is to help children in need all over Africa .

It was a groundbreaking event, and I want to give a big THANK YOU to Leigh Blake and her entire staff. There where three children in attendance from Africa, and I was humbled and thankful that I got to share the same room with them, along with all the celebrities such as Iman, David Bowie, and Alica Keys, just to name a few.

The organization's campaign is called I AM AFRICAN. In the words of Keep A Child Alive, each and every one of us contains DNA that can be traced back to our African ancestors. And these amazing people now need our help.

Go to www.keepachildalive.org and visit the Keep A Child Alive site to see what you can do to help.

I left the event feeling very grateful that the wonderful city in which I live — New York — is the best place on earth for me. I am also grateful for the many friends I have here, and to them I say "thank you for being in my life." For me, Thanksgiving couldn't have come at a better time.

Zak does Sean

Zak grooms Sean Lennon for photo shoot

To promote his new album Friendly Fire, Sean Lennon has been quite the man-about-town, recently turning up to do a photo shoot for an article in Paper magazine. Zak did the grooming for Mr. Lennon, who looked natty in a conservative black suit by Lanvin. Zak, who is originally from Liverpool, England (just like Sean's dad), had nothing but nice things to say about the experience. "Sean was a true gentleman and a pleasure to work with," he said. "I hope his new album sells a million copies." You can see the full article in the October 2006 issue of Paper.
